Senior Hardware Algorithm Developer - Quantum Register Team W/M
Participate in the rapid development of a deep-tech start-up at the forefront of the second quantum revolution!
About Pasqal
Pasqal designs and develops Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) and associated software tools.
Our innovative technology enables us to address use cases that are currently beyond the reach of the most powerful supercomputers; these cases can concern industrial application challenges as well as fundamental science needs.
In addition to the exceptional computing power they provide, QPUs are highly energy efficient and will contribute to a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of the HPC industry.
Job Description
PASQAL has the ambition of developing and building Quantum Processing Units (QPU) enabling highly performant computation using neutral atoms manipulated with lasers. On the hardware level, remarkable challenges make this journey unique and interesting.
At the Quantum Register team, we push the limits of the qubit preparation for computation, enabling scalability, high repetition rate and qubit connectivity, addressing problems such as quantum simulation and quantum error correction codes.
We are looking for highly motivated and experienced R&D scientific software engineer / algorithm developer to strengthen our team. You will have a key role at PASQAL to explore, validate, and push to production algorithms that directly improve register performance and integrate into PASQAL’s broader software environment.
Main responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in developing and implementing algorithms that apply concepts from math, physics, statistics and engineering concepts to solve multi-disciplinary problems at the hardware and system level.
What you will be doing :
System-level problem solving
Translate hardware constraints, physical principles and system requirements into functional block diagrams, algorithmic architecture, and software interfaces.
Develop a high-level understanding of the algorithm library and interfaces with the broader software stack and hardware systems.
R&D scientific software development and validation
Explore and evaluate algorithmic approaches using simulations, data analysis, and quantitative benchmarking whenever applicable.
Conduct literature reviews and technology watch activities to identify relevant methods and emerging techniques.
Validate software performance using defined metrics and produce test reports
Performance engineering
Profile, benchmark, and optimize runtime and resource usage
Ensure reliability and scalability of implementations.
Experience with vectorized computations on CPU and GPU architectures
Interface software solutions with laboratory or industrial instrumentation when required.
Cross-functional collaboration
Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to integrate algorithms into end-to-end systems.
Present results clearly and adapted to the audiences and document methodologies and system algorithmic architecture.
What we are looking for
Proven experience as scientific algorithm developer in industrial context; machine learning knowledge is highly appreciated
Proficiency in Python and good software engineering practices; experience with compiled language (C, C++ or rust) is a plus
Strong foundations in applied mathematics and physics (numerical methods, statistics, modeling, optimization)
Ideally you have at least 5 years of experience interfacing algorithms with experimental systems and noisy real-world data.
How you do it
Autonomy and organization are highly appreciated
Strong Analytical thinking
Autonomy and organization, with the ability to deliver on deadlines.
Clear communication and ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.
Proficiency in written and spoken English. French is a plus.
What we offer
