PASQAL has opened a fabrication facility in Canada which will provide quantum computing hardware capabilities and software services for North America. We are a team of passionate people dedicated to promoting PASQAL's technology and educating the market on the power of neutral-atom quantum computing.
As a Senior Optics & laser Engineer, you will be part of the Canadian production team number 2, building a world-class quantum computer, one of the most advanced technological fields that will shape the 21th century. Based on your knowledge and experience in optics and laser systems, your role is to make our quantum computers real, from assembly of components to commissioning. The facility is located at the Espace Quantique 1, a unique building housing quantum companies of the Quebec Quantum Innovation Zone.
Your mission:
- Characterize optical components and laser sources for unitary tests
- Lead the assembly of optical sub-systems (benches) that include a broad range of optical components (CW laser sources, mirrors, lenses, fibers, acousto-optic & electro-optic modulators, PBS cubes, waveplates, dichroic filters)
- Organize and control the tests of sub-systems performance made by integration technicians, in respect to nominal specifications
- Supervise optical components supply and perform tests
- Ensure proper integration of sub-systems to build the QPU, in terms of optics and lasers
- Organize and control the run of tests procedure to ensure the quality of the whole system in terms of optics and laser
- Be active in continuous improvement, coordinate data collection and communication with Competence Centers
- Understand next generation of QPUs and supervise team training
- Communicate with PASQAL Laser Engineers and Performance engineers of Team 1
- Be involved in manufacturing good practices and general quality management
The work will be based in Sherbrooke facility. Position to be filled immediately. This opportunity is unique, to be part and mentored by a team currently building in France one of the most advanced quantum computers and then have the room to express your talent to do it in North America.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years professional work experience as an engineer in the optics and laser industry
- Strong industrial culture
- Knowledge in interfacing with mechanical and electronic experts
- Team player, versatile, organized, pro-active, autonomous and creative, to find pragmatic and efficient solutions
- Capacity to work closely with other engineers and technicians and track actions in writing
- Able to anticipate, delivery oriented and devoted to reducing lead time facing scientific and technical challenges
- Strong basic knowledge on quality management and good manufacturing practices
- English: full professional proficiency is essential (written and oral). French as a second language a plus.
