Error Mitigation PhD
Participate in the rapid development of a deep-tech start-up at the forefront of the second quantum revolution!
About Pasqal
PASQAL designs and develops Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) and associated software tools.
Our innovative technology enables us to address use cases that are currently beyond the reach of the most powerful supercomputers; these cases can concern industrial application challenges as well as fundamental science needs.
In addition to the exceptional computing power they provide, QPUs are highly energy efficient and will contribute to a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of the HPC industry.
Job Description
We are recruiting a PhD candidate in the field of Error-Mitigation to study, propose and develop novel error mitigation techniques tailored for analog and digital/analog computations in PASQAL QPUs.
In this context, your main missions will be :
- Investigate state-of-the-art techniques for error mitigation and evaluate applicability/requirements of these schemes in PASQAL hardware.
- Develop novel approaches for simulating noise in neutral atom based quantum computers and understand how noise can affect different algorithms and the quantum computation in general.
- Perform research and devise novel protocols for error mitigation in neutral atom based quantum computers and in parallel develop the relevant software modules.
- Publish and disseminate the research outcome in peer-review journals and international conferences.
About you
You must hold a Master's deree in Physics/Computer Science with relevant experience in quantum information or quantum computing and must be willing to enroll in an industrial PhD program in DELFT University in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Basic Requirements
- Experience working with hybrid quantum/classical workflows for different quantum algorithms that require application of error mitigation schemes.
- Knowledge of (at least one) python framework for quantum computation (Braket, Qiskit, Cirq, Pennylane, Mitiq etc.).
- Experience interfacing with quantum computing hardware (physical or via cloud interaction).
- Experimental quantum computing knowledge is also appreciated.
- High Performance Computing background is also appreciated.
Additional Requirements
- Experience on Open system dynamics / Linbladian equations / Error modeling.
- Knowledge or research experience in Error mitigation.
Soft skills:
- You are organized/structured and methodical for performing research orientied tasks
- You have good and clear communication skills in English (mandatory)
- You are a team player
- You are self-oriented, independent and autonomous
- You have genuine scientific interest for the field of quantum information / quantum computing
- You are a problem solver
- You have good time-management skills
What we offer
